The firm
Bergamo Legal is an Italian law firm — a società tra avvocati, the Italian form of a professional law company — based in Bergamo, in the north of Italy, an hour from Milan.
Instructions are given to the firm rather than to an individual lawyer, and are handled jointly by the two partners: civil and litigation work by Daiana Chiappa, tax and corporate work by Matteo Bertocchi, admitted before the Italian Supreme Court. Our Italian website is bergamo.legal.

Inheritance and estates in Italy
Property, bank accounts or shares left in Italy: establishing who inherits, dealing with Italian banks and land registries, coordinating with the notary, and resolving disputes between heirs.
Buying and selling property
Preliminary agreements and deeds, checks before you commit, defects and non-compliance after the purchase, and disputes with builders or sellers.
Contracts with Italian counterparties
Supply, distribution and service agreements: drafting, reviewing, and acting when the other side stops performing.
Debt recovery in Italy
Recovering sums owed by Italian debtors, from the first demand to enforcement, including injunctions and attachment.
Civil litigation
Representation before Italian courts in civil and commercial disputes, at first instance and on appeal.
Tax matters
Assessments, collection notices and tax litigation in Italy. Ongoing tax and corporate advice on a fixed monthly fee is a separate service: avvocato.expert.
How we start
We begin with a first meeting of thirty minutes, online or at our office in Bergamo, for €50 including VAT and statutory contributions, paid when you book.
It is not a consultation: it is where we understand the matter, tell you whether we can take it on, and send you a written quote afterwards. If what you need is an opinion right away — you already hold a document and a deadline — the consultation is the right channel: one hour, €250, with the documents reviewed beforehand.
- Please send your documents at least forty-eight hours before the meeting: they are reviewed in advance.
- Before confirming, we run the conflict checks our professional rules require. If they are not clear, we cannot act and the amount is refunded in full.
- If you are facing a deadline under an Italian document you have received, tell us straight away and give the date you received it.
- The amount paid is deducted in full from our first fee if you instruct us on the same matter.
